HEALTH NURSE
A nurse from Prevention Services (Child, Youth and Family Health) works with parents and school staff as a consultant for health issues. Services provided include hearing and vision screening, consultation and referral services, and promotion of a healthy school community. Watch for health and nutrition information and public health alerts on our website.

Children who are sick with communicable diseases should be kept at home until they are no longer contagious. If in doubt please consult the health nurse or your physician.

Keeping your child’s immunizations current is the best way to avoid serious preventable childhood illnesses. Most children require a booster at 4-6 years of age. Please call the health nurse or the health unit at 250 544-2400 if you have any questions about your child’s immunizations. Helpful information about vaccines and communicable diseases is also found at www.healthlinkbc.ca

Parents/guardians may reach the health nurse at the Peninsula Health Unit (250 544-2400).
