A few bits for Busy December...

  • The donation boxes are looking a little lean so we'd like to remind families that our annual Food and Fund drive is taking place right now and runs through until Dec. 6th.  All donations will stay in our Brentwood Community.  Thank you for your generosity.

  • Our Goldstream Trip is coming up next Wednesday, December 7th. Please remember to have your child(ren) dress appropriately as it is a rain or shine event that takes place mostly outside. Ms Backhaus reported that her class found it very cold when they went last week!

  • Next week, the Virtues Elf arrives at Brentwood School. If you are in the school and your child notices the Virtues Elf hiding here and about, make sure s/he notices the letters and tells us so we can sort out the puzzle!

  • This week, we enjoyed Swan Lake's Travelling Spiders Program. Most of the children “shook hands” with Rosie the tarantula, plus got a close up look at a real black widow and a mock black widow. Ask your child about it!

  • Thank you for your Scholastic Book Orders for December. If your order is a gift, let me know and I'll be happy to keep the cat in the bag!

  • Report cards went home today. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch. You'll notice that your child asks you to read with your child every day. Here's why. Also, if you're wondering what writing looks like for beginning writers, have a look at this.

  • Sharing next week is Monday – Hunter, Tuesday – Karson, Wednesday – Kya, Thursday – Liam, and Friday – Natalie.

  • On Thursday, December 15th, both Kindergarten classes are celebrating Grinch Day together. Ms. Gregory and I are planning some activities based on Dr. Seuss's The Grinch. We are encouraging the children to dress up as a citizen of Whoville (not the Grinch himself). Some ideas would be wearing green and red, trying out a Whoville inspired hairdo, or wearing some antlers like the Grinch's dog!  We will also take some time to enjoy some snacks together so we are asking each child to bring a small number of items to share with the group.

  • By this time, you should have received notice of Brentwood's upcoming concert celebrating December 'Round the World. Our class will help perform three songs at the Tuesday, December 13th show starting at 6:30. Ms. Alexander would like the children to wear black bottoms, with your choice of a red, green, white or black top. Solid tops are preferable. An all-over subtle print or plaid is fine. Please no large logos. A black, red, green or white dress is also suitable. Children should be dropped off in our classroom by 6:10pm and will be returned here for pick up after the finale.

Have a great weekend!
