What an amazing week.  We started with Halloween on Monday and the children did a fabulous job of following the rules for costumes at school.  We were amazed at the creativity of each costume.  Our class looked great! We participated in a full school costume parade, where we marched through classes and we had an opportunity to view every costume in the school.  Tuesday followed Halloween with the "Sugar Rush Run", where everyone in the school ran for 20 minutes to burn off some of that candy!

On Thursday, we were fortunate to have an amazing adventure, travelling to the DRC to see the German Goethe Math Exhibit.  Your child had great fun breaking codes, making 3 D shape bubbles, seeing if they could run/walk to keep up with a slope of a line...there were so many activities!  Ask your child about this and which activity was their favourite.

Below, are our events and learning activities for the week.  Parent-teacher conferences are next Wednesday and Thursday. If you have not signed up for a parent-teacher conference, please do, as we always like to meet with parents to celebrate successes.

Next Week:

Writing:  Our focus will shift this week to Remembrance Day.  We will be discussing the reason for Remembrance Day and writing some poems to demonstrate our understanding of this important day.

Spelling:  We will be looking at the spelling pattern /k/.

Math: We will continue to work on subtraction of large numbers with borrowing.  In addition, we will be working on patterns and equations.

Science:  This is our final week studing the circulatory system.

Socials Studies:  Taking a look at demographics and natural resources.

P.E.:  Continuing with soccer skills and games.  We are on our final two weeks of soccer.

Art:  We will finish our watercolours of poppy fields.
