Hello Parents.
This was a full week with many learning adventures. We read a book called, "The Best Part of Me" and following a discussion, students wrote about the best parts of them. Ask your child what he/she chose to write about. We also started descriptive writing where students wrote a paragraph or two describing their haunted house. In math, we continued with addition and word problems. Science brought us into the human body where we explored the many systems which make our bodies function. Thanks to Nik for bringing in the very fun, "Human Body Trivia Game". It was Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Courville verses the students and the competitive side of me is sad to report, the students beat us! Here are the events and reminders for next week:
Next Week
Writing:Finish " Haunted House For Sale" descriptive writing. Continue with /s/ patterns in spelling.
Reading: We will be learning how to take notes when researching topics and practising summarizing information.
Math: We will be writing our final test in addition and then moving on to subtraction of larger whole numbers. We will also be learning about place value with decimal places and then, writing our place value test.
Socials Studies: We will be finishing learning about maps and early explorers.
Science: Investigating human body systems and how they are interconnected.
P.E.: We will continue working on our soccer skills.
Art: We will paint water colour nighttime skies as backgrounds for our haunted houses.
Reminders:
-IRIDE is this week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Your child will not be able to participate in this event if a waiver is not signed. Pleasego to the link below and fill out the waiver.

-Student's photos have now been sent home. Please have your orders back by October 21st. Thank you
-Wednesday, October 26th will be Photo Re-Take Day. If your child did not get their picture taken or you would like re-takes the photographer will be here in the morning only.
-We will be sending "Bug Busting" slips home on Wednesday. Please take the time to do a quick lice check, fill out the slip and send it back to school so your child can enter the draw.
-Parent-Teacher conferences will be happening on Wednesday, November 9th and Thursday, November 10th. We will be sending a sign up for interviews next week through email. Please sign up for a 20 minute slot so we can discuss your amazing child with you.
