Just a few bits for the week...

  • Foundation Skills Assessment (FSAs) will begin next Monday at 9:00, Tuesday at 10:20, Wednesday at 9:00, Thursday at 12:15, and Friday at 12:20.  Please do not arrive late as it is disruptive to the others.
  • Some of the students have homework this weekend.  First, there's Unit 2 Math work that should have been finished during class time but, for whatever reason, wasn't.  If we can finish up this weekend, we can start Unit 3 next week.  If your child needs more time or some other adjustment, please let me know. Also, I've asked them to read the next chapter of their latest novel study, either Runaway Ralph (Chapter 2) by Beverly Cleary or Shiloh (Chapter 3) by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor.
  • Unit 2 Math Tests were returned to students yesterday.  Corrections are due next Friday.
  • Dr. J, professor of mathematics at Simon Fraser University, and one of his  students, Ivy, came in today to talk mathematics with the Intermediate classes as part of the Math Catcher Program.  He showed us how to create our own tensegrity.  Try the attached powerpoint if you'd like to see more!
  • Author Troy Wilson is visiting Brentwood School this coming Monday.
  • Family Literacy Day is Monday, January 27th.  Students are encouraged to dress as a favourite literary character!
