Happy New Year Everyone!  I hope you enjoyed having the past two weeks to yourselves.  It has flown by as usual.  Here's a few bits to start us off:

  • No Spelling this week.  Mrs. Brown gave the class a new spelling assessment on Monday.  Some children may change group colours.  They will receive a new list next Monday.
  • Our library book exchange day has changed to Fridays
  • Our class is participating in a pilot initiative designed to help children and school communities understand what kind of air day it is.  The Air Quality Flag Program for schools encourages outdoor activity when the air quality is good and provides school communities with ideas on how to remain active if the air quality is poor.  We are lucky here on the island to generally have good air quality but who knows where these children will choose to work and live in the future.  For more information, ask your child about the program and visit our school's blog on the Air Quality Flag Program website.
  • This year Miss Ramsay is spear-heading the Pennies for Hope initiative for Kids Help Phone.  She has a big penny bag in her office so please send a few pennies to donate and drop them by Miss Ramsay's office. The goal is to reach $25.00 and our school will be entered into a draw for prizes. Kids Help Phone continues to enhance its services to meet the needs of young people and could not provide its service without our support.  They are there to help with anything from free professional counselling, anonymous and confidential, to non-judgemental support on-line or on the phone at 1 800 668 6868.

Welcome back!
