Hello Division 13 Families.
Below you will find the events and reminders for the week.
Math:With Mrs. Brown students will begin studying fractions. This week we will focus on understanding and identifying denominators and numerators, as well as identifying fractions on a number line using benchmarks. With Ms. Nightingale, students will be building on their knowledge of shapes and learning how to define and identify polygons.
Writing: This week we are completing a final review of figurative language. Once done reviewing, students will be put in groups to solve a figurative language escape room activity. Students will complete four stations where they will need to use their knowledge of figurative language to solve each task. Once they solve the task, they will receive a puzzle piece. After they have completed all four stations, they will need to put their puzzle pieces together and answer the secret message.
Reading: This week students will continue reading their novels for our book club. On Friday, students will discuss the chapters they read this week and each student will have a job in the book club circle. So far the book club circles have gone well and I have been happy with the discussion around each book. The kids are doing an amazing job. We are almost in our final week of our novels.
Social Studies: This week, students will be carrying on with their comic strips depicting the Douglas Treaties.
Science: We will be learning about solutions and continuing with our unit on Matter.
Art: This week students will complete paper weaving projects.
Physical Education: This week we continue to head outside as we practice our track and field skills. Please remind your child to wear runners and appropriate clothing for running/playing outside.
