Hello Division 13 Families.
A note from Ms. Nightingale: It is hard to believe the year is coming to an end! I feel very fortunate to have been able to teach in Division 13 each Monday over the school year. It has been an honour teaching your child, and if I don't see you at Island View next Monday to say this in person, I hope you and your families have a wonderful summer!
This week we celebrate Indigenous People’s Day on Tuesday and will participate in the “Bone Game”. We are also lucky to witness a performance by the Quw’utsun’ Tzinquaw Dancers.
Since this is our final full week, please send a reusable grocery bag with your child by Thursday. Please label the bag with your child’s name. The majority of supplies will be sent home on Friday. A few things will be kept in the desks for next week but students can bring those items home in their backpacks on the last day of school.
Please read below for events and reminders for the week.
Math:With Mrs. Brown students will complete their last week of fractions where we will identify and create equivalent fractions. We will end with a small quiz at the end of the week.
Writing: This week, students will complete the figurative language escape room activity started last week.
Reading: This week students will work on their final book club project which is creating a book trailer for their novel with the IPads.
Social Studies: As this is our final full Monday together, we will do some reflecting and goal setting and work on an art project inspired by local animals that I'm sure visit each of your yards this time of year!
Science: Our last week of Science, we will continue learning more about the phases of the moon and be making connections to what we have been learning here at Brentwood about the W̱SÁNEĆ moons.
Physical Education: This week we begin our final PE unit playing badminton.

Please join us on June 29 @ 8:15 am for a Family Appreciation Pancake Breakfast at Brentwood Elementary
Please bring your own plates, utensils, napkin and a blanket for a picnic style meal outside behind the school by the portables
Prior to enjoying breakfast please ...
1. Place backpack etc. in regular line-up spot
2. Check in at the attendance tables outside to receive a hand stamp (no stamp = no pancakes!)
3. Choose a picnic spot
4. Line up for pancakes
5. Enjoy!
6. When the bell rings, line up where you usually do Washrooms will be open inside- enter through Portable side of the school Students are expected to stay outside with friends
