Hello Division 13 Families.

This week we will be participating in the grade ⅘ bike program.  On Thursday, children are encouraged to bring their bikes and a helmet if they have one.  Bikes can be locked up at the back of the school in the courtyard.  If a child is unable to bring a bike and helmet, they will be provided with each of these items for the program.

Camp is quickly approaching and I need all camp forms by this Wednesday please.

Below you will find the events and reminders for the week.

Math:With Mrs. Brown students will continue  learning about long division and practising their division skills.  With Ms. Nightingale, we are continuing with our geometry unit by looking at polygons and how we classify them, including types of triangles, quadrilaterals and other multi-sided polygons.

Writing: We continue to learn about various types of figurative language and how students can create more interesting writing by including figurative language in their written work. This week we will review all the figurative language we have learned so far.

Reading: This week students will continue reading their novels for our book club.  On Friday, students will discuss the chapters they read this week and each student will have a job in the book club circle. So far the book club circles have gone well and I have been happy with the discussion around each book.  The kids are doing an amazing job.

Social Studies:   This week, we are finishing up our discussions around the Douglas Treaties. Students will begin working on their final projects to demonstrate their learning.

Science: Our Unit on Matter is continuing with more experiments this week.

Art: This week students will continue to complete a cityscape drawing in the style of James Rizzi.

Physical Education: This week we are supposed to be heading outside as we begin our track and field unit in PE.  Please remind your child to wear runners and appropriate clothing for running/playing outside.
