Hello Division 13 Families.

Below you will find the events and reminders for the week.

Math:With Mrs. Brown students will continue  learning about long division and practising their division skills. We didn’t quite get to the math homework last week but there will be math homework coming home this week so students can practice these skills.  With Ms. Nightingale, we are continuing with our geometry unit looking at congruent shapes and transformations.

Writing: We continue to learn about various types of figurative language and how students can create more interesting writing by including figurative language in their written work. This week we will revisit idioms.

Reading: This week students will continue reading their novels for our book club.  On Friday, students will discuss the chapters they read this week and each student will have a job in the book club circle. So far the book club circles have gone well and I have been happy with the discussion around each book.  The kids are doing an amazing job.

Social Studies:  We are continuing to explore what the Douglas Treaties were and what they meant for people living here on the Peninsula.

Science: Students enjoyed our walking water experiment last week.  We will be diving more into what matter is with the help of a video now that we have an impressive projector that works.

Art: This week students will complete a cityscape drawing in the style of James Rizzi.

Physical Education: This week we are supposed to be heading outside as we begin our track and field unit in PE.  Please remind your child to wear runners and appropriate clothing for running/playing outside.
