Hello Division 13 Families.

Thank you to everyone for signing up for the student led conferences.  We are excited to welcome you into the classroom so you can see what your child has been learning.

Below you will find the events and reminders for the week.

Math:With Mrs. Brown, we shift our focus to financial literacy.  Each student will be given a profession with a wage, they will be given a spouse, children or they may be single. With their wage, they will need to budget their money and use it to purchase a house, a car, a phone as well as utilities, gas and plans to go with each.  This is a favourite project every year and it should be a fun learning experience for all.  With Ms. Nightingale, students worked on their Zoo Projects, checking that they calculated the area and perimeter correctly.

Writing: 1. Students will continue work on informational writing this week where they are now working on their drafts.  Some students have moved on to their good copies.  2. Students started their friendship poems last week and will finish the poems this week.

Reading: We finished our novel and students are working on a poster which summarizes the novel.  In addition, the students will choose their favourite character and create a memory book from that character’s perspective.

Science: In Science,  students were eager to get going on their dioramas and accompanying research projects with their groups.

Social Studies: In Social Studies students finished up their reflections.

Art: This week we are working on putting our scrapbooks together and painting our clay turtles.

Physical Education: This week, we will play some co-operative games and continue our basketball unit the rest of the week.
