Hello everyone,

It is hard to believe it is December! Today the children had lots of fun making their "Snowman at Night" snowman with their Buddies and reading Winter/Christmas stories together. Our next Buddy get together will be the 17th until after Winter Break.

We have started this month learning about Wants and Needs. The children did a great job sorting pictures into these categories which brought about interesting discussions about books, vehicles, and pillows! Please chat with them about this too.

We are nearing the end of learning the Letterland Letters - X, Q and will review all letters and sounds in the new year. Please remember to play the Letterland Megamix for your child as a fun way to practise learning the sounds.

This Wednesday we will decorate Christmas Cone Trees with Royal Icing and treats. Please have your child bring in a small bag of treats  and a small bag of Royal Icing on Monday labelled with your child's name.

Icing Recipe:   Royal Icing-  ½ tsp lemon juice,  1 egg white , 1½ cups or more icing sugar -Combine lemon juice and egg white in a small bowl and gradually beat in sugar until stiff peaks form. A knife drawn through the icing should leave clean, sharp line.

Sharing:  Favourite Christmas/Winter Tradition - please talk with your child about what they like to do at this time of the year. For example:  We like to visit Butchart Gardens as a family to the see the Christmas lights or decorate the Christmas tree, etc.

Brentwood Elementary is excited to support the Central Saanich Police Department in their 5th Annual Cram the Cruiser Toy Drive on December 15th. We will be collecting new unwrapped toy donations, for all ages (birth - teens) from November 29th - Dec. 15th. All toy donations will be distributed to local families in our community. Thank you for the support!

In the spirit of giving, the PAC has organized a toonie drive for the Food Bank. Students can bring a toonie, and then decorate a candy candy or gingerbread man to add to the gingerbread house located outside the gym. Thank you for your donations, the children have enjoyed colouring the pictures to put on the Gingerbread House.
