Hello Division 13 Families.

Below you will find the events and reminders for the week.

Math: With Mrs. Brown students will continue using their knowledge of place value and what they know about rounding, to round numbers to the nearest ten thousand and million. With Ms. Nightingale,  we practiced converting measurements for distance, talked about what metric units we use to measure weight and practiced how to convert from grams to kilograms.

Reading and Writing: This week we will begin our new project, “Biography in a Bag”.  Students will listen to a biography, read by Mrs. Brown and then they will watch Mrs. Brown’s presentation and critique her written assignment on the biography.  Eventually, students will read a biography of their choosing and complete a written summary of the book they have read.  Students will also be required to present their information.  More to come on this assignment, next week.

Social Studies: In Socials, students finished up their mini books of the local WASANEC legend of the flood story. Then we started our next big research project examining an indigenous group from across Canada.  We are collecting information on their group’s food, shelter, clothing, travel, tools and more. Ask your child why group they are learning about

Science: In Science, we have been learning about different animals that use echolocation and have watched a video highlighting sharks and their sense of smell.

Physical Education: We continue to play cooperative games as well as continue our focus  on soccer skills.

Art: This week we will finish glazing our clay projects and we will begin a Fall painting project.
