Hello Division 14 Families.

It’s difficult to believe it is June already.  While we are so close to the end, there is still a lot of learning to be done.  Please read below and if you have any questions, please email us.

Math:  With Mrs. Brown, we are learning about fractions. Students will learn various ways to compare fractions looking at fraction bars, number lines, using ½ as a benchmark and finally, looking for common numerators and denominators.    With Mrs. Westmacott, students continue to work on probability scenarios and games.

Reading: Students continue to learn figurative language and  identify idioms, similes and metaphors in various texts.  We will also do some close reading with music where students will analyze song lyrics from Idina Menzel’s song, “Let It Go”,  looking for deeper meaning, symbolism and themes.

Writing:  Students will be finishing their research projects and  presenting to the class starting on June 9th.

Science: In science we continue  learning about the rock cycle.

Social Studies:   In social studies, we will learn about the Japanese Internment and Intro to Natural Resources

Physical Education: This week we will continue with our mini basketball tournament. We will have an outdoor PE class on Thursday and will play California Kickball.

Art: This week students will work on their scrapbooks and get them prepared for coming home at the end of June.
