Hello Division 14 Families.
My apologies for missing the blog this past week. Read the information below to find out about this week and next week. If you have any questions, please email us.
Math: With Mrs. Brown, we continue our unit on long division. Students are slowly starting to understand the steps required in long division. Some students are bringing extra worksheets home to practice. Ask your child about this and remind them to practice the steps. With Mrs. Westmacott, students will begin working with probability.
Reading: We didn’t quite get to our reader theatre presentations this week. So next week we continue our unit in the reader's theatre. We hope to be ready to present to the class at the end of next week.
Writing: Students will continue working on their research project. Next week, students will learn how to take their notes and turn them into paragraphs.
Science: In science we will begin learning about the rock cycle.
Social Studies: In social studies, we will learn about the Komagata Maru Incident and Chinese Head Tax.
Physical Education: This week we will participate in some cooperative games as well as a fun Capture the Flag game outside.
Art: This week students created a watercolour resist of a butterfly. Next week, students will be working on a special top secret craft.

Each Spring we begin planning for our new school year. We work collaboratively to develop wonderful learning communities for all our Brentwood students. If you have specific considerations that you wish to contribute to our process for your child's class placement, please email dhughes@saanichschools.ca for a copy of our parent input form. You can return this form via email to our Principal, Sara Salemink at ssalemink@saanichschools.ca or by hard copy to the school no later than May 14, 2021. Please note that we are unable to guarantee any placement input requests, and that we will not finalize class placements until the beginning of our school year.

Bayside Clothing Order.Grade 5 Hoodie Order - Bayside
Grade 5 Teachers will be sending home a Bayside Sharks hoodie order form for our grade 5 students.
Please note - Forms are due by May 21st to ensure delivery times. Pick up will take place in early June at Bayside. More details on days/times to follow. On your order form, please ensure you flag that your student is from BRENTWOOD ELEMENTARY. Forms can be emailed to baysidepac@gmail.com
