Hello Division 14 Families.
Please read below and if you have any questions, please email us.
Math: With Mrs. Brown, students will continue doing multiplication donut drills daily, so it would be beneficial for all students to continue practicing their multiplication facts each night. This week we begin a new unit on long division. We will also continue working on our unit on financial literacy. Students have been given a profession, a salary, they may or may not have a spouse and children. With their monthly wage, the students will be required to find accommodation they can afford and then, budget for things like, electricity, food, phone bills, utilities, cars etc. With Mrs. Westmacott, students will be learning about line graphs.
Reading: This week we continue our unit in the reader's theatre. Students have chosen the reader’s theatre story they would like to perform. Our focus this week is practicing reading with expression. Students will also be encouraged to make props and signs for their performance.
Writing: Students wrote a poem last week called, “I Wish You More”. We will work on editing their first draft and completing the final copy. Students will also begin a research project where they will choose a person who inspires them and research this person’s life. The end goal will be for students to write a biography report on the person they choose to research.
Science: In science we will be doing a Gobstopper Lab
Social Studies: In social studies, we will continue working on The Saanich Moons research project.
Physical Education: This week we will participate in some cooperative games as well as a fun Capture the Flag game outside.
Art: This week students will paint a watercolour dandelion picture. Students will be finishing their weaving projects.
