Hello Families.
Welcome back to the last three months of school. We are excited to be back at school teaching the children. We have a lot planned for this week. Please read below and if you have any questions, please email us.
Math: With Mrs. Brown, students will continue doing multiplication donut drills daily, so it would be beneficial for all students to continue practicing their multiplication facts each night. This week we will review multiplication of two digit numbers by two digit numbers. As well, Students wi;; continue working on one of two projects where they will be practicing their multiplication skills. The first is, “Designing a House”, the second is, “Planning a Zoo”. We will finish the week with a quiz. With Mrs. Westmacott, we will begin the introduction to Stats and Probability.
Reading: This week we begin our unit, reader’s theatre. Students will view some examples of other students performing readers theatre plays. After going over the criteria for a successful readers theatre, students will get to choose which reader’s theatre story they would like to perform..
Writing: Students will write a piece on their spring break with a focus on interesting ways to grab a reader’s attention.
Science: In science we will begin a new unit on Solutions and Solubility
Social Studies: In social studies, we will begin our introduction on The Saanich Moons research project.
Physical Education: This week we will participate in a Tuesday fitness and then we will play some cooperative games on Wednesday and Thursday.
Art: This week we will continue learning about Coast Salish weaving and the cultural significance of this wonderful art form. Students will work on completing their bags. Those students who have finished their bags will have the option to make another or complete a new project. We will also be completing some Easter themed zentangles.
