Hello Families.

Below are the events and reminders for the week.  If you haven’t signed up for a parent-teacher conference yet, , please scroll down to the link below and sign up. If you have any questions, please email us.

Math:  With Mrs. Brown students will continue to complete a math project called, “Candy Rush”.  Look for photos of their projects on FreshGrade next week.  We will also begin looking at strategies for rounding whole numbers to the nearest tenth, hundred and thousand. With Ms. Westmacott,  students will be continuing our Metric Monster standard measurement practice.

Writing: This week we will be completing a grade wide write on the topic, “My Favourite Place I’ve Been”.  We will also be talking about Remembrance Day and what it means and writing a poem to convey our feelings about this special day.

Reading:  This week students will continue writing a summary based on the short story they chose to read.  Focus will be retelling the story using details from the beginning, middle and end.

Science:  In science we will be working through some skeletal system stations to get hands-on practice labelling and naming bones and learning their purpose.

Social Studies:   This week for social studies we will be carrying on with learning about the different levels of government, as well as exploring indigenous perspectives.

Physical Education: We will continue  working on soccer skills and play mini games.

Art:  This week students will paint a watercolour scene of poppies in a field.

November 13th - Photo Re-takes

Families on Property- Ensuring the well-being of our school community is our number one priority. We are noticing that there is some congestion occurring on all sides of the school. This is a reminder that families should drop off/pick up children at the edges of the school property. We also remind you that mask usage is a protective measure where it is not possible to maintain physical distance. This would be the case for adults at all times on our property and is in alignment with our staff's health and safety plan. Thank you for working together with us to help keep our school healthy.

Please contact out Principal, Sara Salemink, at ssalemink@saanichschools.ca if you have questions. We are all in this together.

INDOOR SHOES:  As the weather turns, we ask you to send a pair of indoor shoes with your child.  It is preferable to have the shoes stay in the classroom but it is also okay to have them in the backpack if they need to go back and forth between school and home.
