Hello Families.

We hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  Below are the events and reminders for the week.  If you have any questions, please email us.

Math:   With Mrs. Brown, we will continue exploring the difference between the value of digits in numbers and the place value of the digits.  We will also dive into writing numbers in standard form, expanded form and word form. With Ms. Westmacott, students will be learning about telling time.

Writing: We will finish writing our personal narrative drafts.

Reading:  We will read some short stories and explore ways to write a summary.  Students will pull ten important points out of their short story and learn how to put those points into a written summary. In addition, students received their reading sheets last week, to keep track of at home reading. Students should be reading twenty minutes each night and keeping track of it on their reading sheet.

Science: This week we will be finishing up the digestive system with some hands-on stations and review.

Social Studies:  We will be starting to take a look at government in preparation for the Student Vote.

Physical Education: Over the last two weeks we have been exploring various physical literacy games.  We will continue to introduce cooperative games this week.

Art:  We switched the art last week to a “Masked Portrait”. So, this week students will be making owls from Model Magic.  After the owls dry, we will use markers to add color.

*If you have not done so already, please send a scrapbook (Hilroy - 20 pages)with your child to school. *

*Please send in the student information form I sent home on Friday, September 18th.  I am still waiting to get email addresses from a few families.
