Here are the events and reminders for this week.
This week:
Math: With Mrs. Brown, students will continue to work on place value. This week we are working on writing numbers in standard, expanded and word form. Students who feel confident with this material will be given an opportunity to work on an enrichment project. With Mrs. Thornton, students are finishing up perimeter and moving onto area. Examining the relationship between the two.
Writing: This week our grade fives will be working on their autobiography projects, "This is Me in Grade Five". We are also learning about homophones with a focus on there, their and they're.
Reading: As a follow up to our Terry Fox Run, students will be reading a piece about Terry Fox and why he is a Canadian hero. We will follow up with some questions and discussion about the article.
Science- We are continuing to do research on the different biomes of the world and at the same time trying to figure out what biome would best fit their made up species. We are also continuing to study animal super senses and adaptations.
Physical Education:We continue with our first unit in soccer.
Art: This week we will finish our Fall trees acrylic paintings. We also worked with clay today and made special Fall bowls which will be ready for glazing next week.
Upcoming Dates / Reminders:
- Please remember to check and sign your child's agenda every day. Students should be reading 20 minutes each night and doing Reflex Math 3 times per week for 20 minutes. Students who have finished Reflex can do Prodigy Math
