Hello Families.
We hope you all had a wonderful weekend. It's difficult to believe we are in our final week of November! We have a busy week ahead with lots of learning. Here are the events and reminders for this week:
Math: With Mrs. Brown: We will use this week to finish our unit on rounding numbers. Following the test on rounding, we will move into our study of addition of large numbers. With Ms. Rickson: We will finish our graphs from our original survey questions and we will be writing a "knowledge check" to show what we know.
Reading and Writing: This week we will explore the story "Tuesday" by David Weisner. Students will be shown the pictures from the book and then complete a writing activity where they will tell me what they think is happening in the story. The children will be encouraged to use the connector words we have been learning in class and also to use as much descriptive language as possible.
Science: We are continuing with our unit on solutions by beginning our scientific glossary of new terms. We are also going to conduct an experiment to see how temperature affects the dissolving rate of a solute in a solvent.

Report Language Changing
Hello families,
The language we use to report on students' progress is changing throughout the province. We are moving towards a continuum of progress for reporting for students in K-9, and you will receive the following letter as an insert with your child's report card this term. Should you have questions about these changes to language, please feel free to email me at sjolivet@saanichschools.ca or speak with your child's teacher.
