Hello Families.

Below are our events and reminders for the week.

Math With Mrs. Brown:Students continue to work on place value with our focus on comparing and ordering large numbers.  With Ms. Rickson: Students are studying pictographs and looking at the way they represent data.

WritingWe continue our descriptive writing unit, exploring the difference between telling and showing with our words. Students continue to explore different ways to make written work more interesting and descriptive so the written piece creates a picture in the reader's mind.  We are also working on using a many different connector words to create a variety of rich compound sentences instead of many simple sentences. This week we will move into writing a "Boo Haiku" using descriptive Halloween words.  We will also create a writing piece, writing from the perspective of a realtor selling a haunted house.

Science: Students are finishing their exploring of the class of levers and their inquiry on paddles by determining  which class of lever a paddle is.

Social Studies: Today students discussed the results of the local municipal election and continued to study the different levels of government.

Physical Education: This week we continue to work on our soccer skills. Students have been split into four teams and will play a series of 8 mini soccer games throughout this week. With Ms. Rickson, student participated in buddy gym where they had the choice of playing bench ball or kickball.
