Hello Families.
Since it's been so busy, and I didn't get the blog out on Monday, this will cover what we have done this week and what we hope to accomplish next week. We are definitely in full swing of the school routine and our days are full. See below for all our events and reminders.
We wish all our families a happy Thanksgiving weekend and hope you are able to spend time together with loved ones.
Math: With Mrs. Brown: This week students worked on putting a number in standard form, expanded form and word form. Next week we will focus on determining the value of different digits in a number, understanding the relationship between digit places and their value. With Ms. Rickson: Students continued to graph their ice cream question and added a scale for both axis and plot data. Students will also create thankfulness graphs using a circle and bar graph.
Writing: We began our descriptive writing unit, exploring the difference between telling and showing with our words. Students explored different ways to make written work more interesting and descriptive so the written piece creates a picture in the reader's mind. We will continue with this next week.
Reading: Students read about Canadian Thanksgiving and learned of it's origins and when the first Thanksgiving dinner was served.
