Hello Families.
We hope you all had a wonderful weekend. We have a busy week ahead with lots of learning. Here are the events and reminders for this week:
Math: With Mrs. Brown: Students will be working on completing their, "Math About Me" projects. We will also begin our unit on place value this week. With Ms. Rickson: Students will be working on their graphing unit. Students will choose a question, collect results and put their results into a table.
Writing: Students will complete their "Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall" poems. We will work on editing each other's poems and put them into published format.
Reading: We continue with reading assessments for term one. In addition, students received their reading sheets to keep track of at home reading. Please read the letter sent home explaining our home reading program.
Science: Students are learning about forces and simple machines. This week they were asked to bring skateboards. The skateboards will be used to help us continue with our inquiry question, "How does a paddle move a canoe?" We will be using skateboards instead of canoes and hockey sticks instead of paddles to explore different types of levers.
Socials Studies: Students will be introduced to the essential question, "Why do people leave their homes for somewhere new?" We will also discuss Orange Shirt Day and spotlight Phyllis' story. Click on link below.
Physical Education: This week we will work on our soccer skills.
Art: Students will be making owls from Model Magic. After the owls dry, we will use markers to add colour.
*Please send a scrapbook (Hilroy - 20 pages)with your child if you have not already done so. In addition, please send $5.00 for your child's agenda. *
*Please send in the student information form I sent home on Friday, September 7th. I am still waiting to get email addresses from a few families.
