Hello all.
I hope everyone had a great Family Day weekend and enjoyed the amazing weather. I enjoyed hearing the students talk about all of their weekend adventures. It was a very busy hockey and soccer weekend for many of you!
This week has gotten off to a great start with some Olympic related activities, a new math project on budgeting, writing personal narratives and going on a skating field trip. Below is a list of activities for the rest of the week and a few reminders too.
Math: With Mrs. Brown: This week we begin our project on budgeting. Students have been given an occupation with a specific salary and they have been given a family who they must provide for. They need to take their monthly wage and decide how much money they can put towards housing, groceries, transportation etc.
Math With Mr. Lurie: This week, Grade 4/5 students will continue their unit on geometry, understanding nets and identifying elements of 3-D shapes.
Writing: This week students will work on the revising stage of their personal narratives.
Reading: Students will read an article from Canadian Reader and try to find the important facts from the passage they read.
Socials Studies: Students will be starting their inquiry projects.
Physical Education: This week our focus is on the Olympics. Students have been put into groups and have been assigned a country. They will compete in various games to gain points for their country.
Dance: Students continued learning a new dance for the Fine Arts Festival and for the performance in May. Mark your calendars now...the performance will be on Tuesday, May 15th at 12:30 in the gym.
