Hello parents.
We hope you enjoyed a great long weekend with your child. We started our day hearing about the children's various adventures over the past three days. It sounds like everyone kept very busy.
Here are the events and reminders for this week:
Math: With Mrs. Brown: We will continue working on our addition of large numbers this week. Students had a quiz last week and it was sent home on Thursday. If you didn't see it, ask your child. There will be another quiz this Thursday, so please remind your child to study. You could write them a small practise quiz with five questions of double and triple digit addition with regrouping. With Mr. Lurie: Students will continue to learn about measuring volume using graduated cylinders and observe the relationship between litres and grams (volume and mass of water). They will also examine displacement and the volume of objects (for example rocks and marbles) dropped into a graduated cylinder full of water.
Writing: This week we will look at different types of sentences and appropriate punctuation for each: declarative, exclamatory, interrogative and imperative. We will also look at our writing and make sure we have the correct punctuation.
Reading: This week we will be reading chapters 10-14 in our novel, Holes. Students will be completing various reading response activities.
Socials Studies: Students continue to learn about early explorers and geographic land forms.
Science: Continuing with our study of sensing and responding, this week students look at plants and their response to light, touch, water and gravity etc.
Art: To celebrate the start of December this week, we will begin our Christmas art projects. We will be using clay this week to build a special Christmas present for our families.

Retake photo orders
If you wish to order the retake photos you received this week, please do so online or send the order to the office by November 27th. Thank you
Popcorn Day: Wednesday, November 29th
We would like to partner with Central Saanich Police and the other schools in Central Saanich to help families in our area by giving new unwrapped toys. If you would like to help, please buy a new toy for a child aged 2-12 and put it in the bin in the front entrance of the school under the tree by December 15. Central Saanich Police will collect these toys and then, during the last week of school in December, will come to Brentwood and we will have a "Cram A Cruiser" scheduled celebration. Stay tuned.
