Hello parents.

It's been a busy week so far and I am just getting to the blog.  So far this week, we have worked on adding numbers with decimals. The students have been looking at flyers and creating a shopping list and then, adding the cost of all their items, remembering the rule of lining up the decimals before adding.  In language arts, we read chapters 20-29 of our novel, Holes. Students drew their favourite scenes from those chapters and wrote a little description of their drawings. In P.E.. we finished our last soccer game today and will begin basketball tomorrow.  In art, we are working on top secret Christmas projects...you'll find out on Christmas Day. That's what we have accomplished so far.  Here are the events and reminders for the remainder of the week:

Math With Mrs. Brown: We will continue working on our addition of numbers with decimals and students will plan a Christmas Dinner by looking at various grocery flyers.  With Mr. LurieStudents will review everything they have learned about measurement.
Writing:  This week we will continue to look at different types of sentences and appropriate punctuation for each: declarative, exclamatory, interrogative and imperative.  We will also look at our writing and make sure we have the correct punctuation.
Reading: This week we will be reading chapters 20-29in our novel, Holes.  Students will be completing various reading response activities.
Socials StudiesStudents will learn about the physiographic regions of Canada (natural resurces, Flora and Fauna)
ScienceContinuing with our study of sensing and responding, this week students look at plant adaptations.
Art: To celebrate the start of December this week, we will begin our Christmas art projects.  We will be using clay this week to build a special Christmas present for our families.  We are also working on a whimsical Christmas tree using felts and pencil crayons.
