December has arrived and we are looking forward to a busy two weeks before break.  The children have been working hard, getting ready to display some of their work and sing a song for  our term presentation on Wednesday.  We hope many of you will be able to take an hour out of your busy day to join us on Wednesday and see what the children have been working on this term.  Below are reminders and events for next week.

This Week

Reading: We continue to look at and learn parts of a story.

Writing: We are finishing our "Magnificent Thing" writing pieces and our "Winter Tradition" writing.

Math: Mrs. Brown will finish the personal finance project we started last week.  Mr. Szczepanowski will continue to work on equations and patterns.

Science: Students are finishing their Muscular System mini research projects.

Socials Studies: Final week of origin stories.

PE: Basketball starts this week.

Art: Family snowman portraits on canvas.

Remnders:

Div. 12 Term One Celebration of Learning: This Wednesday in the Multi-Purpose Room 1:45-2:48. Please let us know if you are able to attend, so we put out enough chairs.

Skating: We will be skating this Thursday, 10:00-11:00, with our buddy class.  We are in need of a couple parent volunteers to tie skates and go out on the ice with the children.  Please let us know if you are able to help with this.

Winter Concert: Tuesday, December 13th, 6:30 in the gym.  Our class is to wear a white top and black bottoms and all children are to meet in our classroom at 6:10 on the evening of the performance. Below is a copy of Mrs. Alexander's letter. Please read it for details about the concert.

Tree Chipping Fundraiser for Camp:  Trevor Coey of Bartlett Tree Experts has offered to bring his tree chipper to Brentwood on Saturday, January 7th.  This is a grade five camp fundraiser and we are asking for parent volunteers.  We need volunteers to be at the school with Trevor to collect donations and to help move the trees to the chipper.  Please contact Mrs. Brown if you are able to help on January 7th for a few hours.
