Here are the events and reminders for this week and next week:
Math: With Mrs. Brown, this week we will continue our unit on large digit subtraction. Students will be using subtraction in real-life contexts and problem-based situations. First quiz on Friday morning. With Mrs. Cannady: 1)This week we continue to study quadrilaterals. Students will make corrections to classroom work, if required and play a game in preparation for Friday’s practice quiz. 2) Students will begin studying transformations.
Writing: This week we will finish binding our fairy tales and sharing them with the class. Students will also continue practising the use of quotation marks and applying them correctly in writing.
Reading: This week, we will begin term two reading assessments. Students will also continue to conference with Mrs. Brown about their chosen silent reading book. The students will also be writing reading responses at the end of each silent reading block.
Social Studies- Students will begin the first of a two part investigation into the life of Christopher Columbus. Working with a group students will be collecting information about the explorer through messages in bottles. We will also watch a video showing one perspective about Columbus.
Upcoming Dates / Reminders:
- Please remember to check and sign your child's agenda every day. Students should be reading 20 minutes each night and doing Reflex Math 3 times per week for 20 minutes. Students who have finished Reflex can do Prodigy Math
Intermediate Skate at Panorama - Friday, February 13th - Permission slip will be sent home Tuesday.
Valentines Day Activities - Thursday, February 13th - A list of student names will go home with students today. Valentines are an optional activity but if your child wishes to participate, we ask that they prepare a Valentinescard for every child on the list.
