Hello everyone!
It is hard to believe we are in our last month of this year! The children have embraced our early morning Christmas activities and now we have an elf in our classroom! He is a bit naughty, mixing up numbers but the children were able to fix them!
Students did a great job of sharing their Holiday traditions...many shared about trimming the Christmas tree, going to other people's homes, grandparents; going to Butchart Gardens and having hot chocolate ... it is great for the children to listen to all the different traditions. Thanks for your support in helping them!
Some events happening this month:
Wednesday - Dec 11 Kindergarten Craft Stations from 1:45 - 2:45 If you have extra time, extra hands would be great as we rotate between the 3 classes.
Thursday - Dec. 12 Silver and Gold day at Brentwood. The Spirit Club is asking for the school to dress up in gold and/or silver. If you don't have a silver or gold article of clothing, sparkly and/or tacky Christmas accessories are very welcome!
Brentwood PAC is collecting loonies and twoonies for the Sidney Food Bank. Students can bring donations to class or to the office.
Cram the Cruiser coming December 16th. Central Saanich police collecting unwrapped toys for disadvantaged children. Gifts can be dropped at the school office.
Brentwood Kindergarten classes will be getting together to decorate Christmas Cone Trees with Royal Icing and treats. This will be 1:55 - 2:48 on Wednesday, December 18th. We're asking everyone to bring a small bag of treats to share and a bag of Royal Icing. We would need some adults to help set up around 1:45 and to help the children with their masterpieces. Please email me if you can volunteer.
Icing Recipe: Royal Icing- ½ tsp lemon juice, 1 egg white , 1½ cups or more icing sugar -Combine lemon juice and egg white in a small bowl and gradually beat in sugar until stiff peaks form. A knife drawn through the icing should leave clean, sharp line.
