Hello Parents.

A huge thank you to all of you who drove for our beach field trip.  It was a great success and the children had a wonderful time building forts, playing in the sand and finding beach treasures with their buddies.  Thank you also to those who were able to come to our Celebration of Learning.  It was great to see so many parents and grandparents and the children enjoyed performing for you.  I am always impressed with the children's ability to read out loud in front of a crowd during the reader's theatre.  This is not an easy task for some adults and I think the children in Division 12 rose to the challenge and performed well.

The remainder of the week proves to be busy and full, as does this final month of school. Here are the events and reminders for the week.

Math With Mrs. Brown: This is our final week of long division.  The children wrote a mini test last week and those who have mastered long division are working on an enrichment project.  A few of the children are still needing some practice with long division and we will be working with them in small groups this week. If you have time at home, please encourage them to do a few questions.   I also encourage the children to go to the  KHAN academy website ( https://www.khanacademy.org/math/arithmetic/arith-review-multiply-divide/arith-review-multi-digit-div/v/long-division-without-remainder ) for a review lesson on long division. . With Mr. Lurie: We continue with our unit on probability  using dice.
WritingStudents finally finished their Women in History writing piece. We will be sharing these over the next few days. Students will also be choosing a favourite poem which they wrote and sharing that with the class.
Reading:  We are also beginning reading assessments for term three.

Science: This week we continue our unit  on space.

Coding:  Mr. Lurie will continue to work with the students on coding using the Spheroes.

Physical Education: We continue our track practice.  Please mark your calendars: District Track Meet - June 14th at UVic Centennial Stadium.  Information and permission form came home last  week.  Please sign and send your child's permission form in as soon as possible.
