Hello everyone,
We have had a busy week learning about Wants and Needs, plus identifying shapes in our environment! The children continue to find shapes, which is super! Next week we are going to discuss Matter - solids, liquids and gases with Hot Chocolate, marshmallows and candy canes - I think the children will love the intro to our Science topic!
Sharing: Shape Hunt at home - your child can share shapes they have found in the house ie. circle - plate, square - window, etc. I hope they have fun being a Shape Detective! If they are keen, they can always draw what they have found from home and bring it to show during their sharing time.
It was fun to listen to all the different sharing of treats/foods the children enjoy having over the holidays. We tried some Hershey kisses, chocolate coins and Egg Nog We are getting ready for the holiday treats!
Special Gift: Please send in a clean glass jar...pasta sauce jar, 500 ml mason jar ASAP. We are still missing some jars and we will be working on this activity Monday and Tuesday morning.
K1/K2 "Candy Tree" decorating: Wednesday, Dec. 20 We will be making Christmas cone trees with Mrs. Westwood's class. Please have your child bring in a small bag of candies that they can share and a baggy of Royal Icing. If you would like to volunteer, we can always use an extra pair of hands. We will need help setting up the Multipurpose Room for after recess.
Festive Hat Day - wear a festive hat! 10:00 is our assembly where we will be singing Christmas songs together.
Portfolio gluing: - please email Lisa (Finley's mom) ltalsma77@yahoo.ca to help glue in your child's work - this is a big job so any help would be greatly appreciated.
