Hello parents.

A huge thank you to all of you for sending a cleaned out pumpkin with your child today.  We had fun creating designs and carving our pumpkins.  A special thank you to Belinda, Lindsay, Ericka and Krista for volunteering their time and skills and helping with the pumpkin carving.

We have a busy week ahead.  Tomorrow is Halloween and children are allowed to wear their costumes to school  if they wish.  We will be having costume parade with the entire school in the afternoon and this is always a highlight of the day.  Children are not allowed to bring scary masks or weapons which accompany costumes.  Please keep in mind, we have very young children at the school and we do not want to be the cause of nightmares.  If the children would prefer to leave their costumes at home, they are welcome to wear black and orange instead.

Here are the events and reminders for the week:

Math With Mrs. Brown, this week we will focus on rounding numbers.
With Mr. Lurie, students did amazing work comparing perimeter and area during math class. They will begin to look at mass and volume.
Writing:  This week we are editing and revising our monster stories. Some students are still at the drafting stage.

Reading: This week we begin our new novel, Holes.

Socials Studies: T
he focus continues to be on early explorers.
ScienceThis week they will continue to look at how living things sense and respond to their environment.
Art: I am still deciding weather to do a Remembrance Day painting project or to do a poppy clay project.  Stay tuned...
