Hello Families.

Below are the events and reminders for the week. If you have any questions, please email us.

Math:  With Mrs. Brown, we will continue  to add large numbers.  This week we will look at the traditional addition method.  With Ms. Westmacott, we will be practicing time measurement with task cards and start an introduction to perimeter.

Writing: This week we will continue writing persuasive paragraphs.  Students will be asked to create a donut to be chosen as one of Tim Horton’s featured donuts of the month.  Students will write a persuasive paragraph/essay to convince the reader to shoes their donut.

Reading: Last week students read a nonfiction piece about flies titled, “That’s Gross”. This week, students will finish the  various comprehension activities to show their understanding of the reading passage.

Science In science we will be doing some group research on the circulatory system and recording the new concepts and terminology we learn.

Social Studies:  In social studies we will be continuing our learning about the December Saanich moon.

Physical Education: This week we will start with a fitness circuit and then we will introduce basketball.

Art: Top secret holiday craft.

December 10-16 - Report cards home

December 18th - Last day of school before winter break.

Families on Property- Ensuring the well-being of our school community is our number one priority. We are noticing that there is some congestion occurring on all sides of the school. This is a reminder that families should drop off/pick up children at the edges of the school property. We also remind you that mask usage is a protective measure where it is not possible to maintain physical distance. This would be the case for adults at all times on our property and is in alignment with our staff's health and safety plan. Thank you for working together with us to help keep our school healthy.

Please contact out Principal, Sara Salemink, at ssalemink@saanichschools.ca if you have questions. We are all in this together.

INDOOR SHOES:  As the weather turns, we ask you to send a pair of indoor shoes with your child.  It is preferable to have the shoes stay in the classroom but it is also okay to have them in the backpack if they need to go back and forth between school and home.
