Hello Families.
Below are the events and reminders for the week. If you have any questions, please email us.
Math: With Mrs. Brown students will finish looking at strategies for rounding whole numbers to the nearest tenth, hundred and thousand and ten thousands. There will be a quiz on Wednesday on this. With Ms. Westmacott, we will be continuing with our paper aircrafts, measuring the distance flown and analyzing the strategies used in design development.
Writing:This week we will share our writing pieces, “My Favourite Place I’ve Been”. We will also be completing a proofreading and editing activity.
Reading: Last week we read a nonfiction piece about the science behind rainbows. This week, students will be finishing the comprehension activities related to this reading piece.
Science: In science, students will be quizzing each other on our musculo-skeletal unit with our fortune teller review manipulatives.
Social Studies: In social studies we will be demonstrating our knowledge through completing our levels of government booklet and doing some fun online government quizzes to test how much we have learned.
Physical Education: We will finish our soccer unit this week.
Art: Last week we painted snow people portraits with acrylic on canvas. This week we will continue holiday themed art. For a special project coming up, we are asking students to bring some crafts supplies. Fabric, ribbon, bells, buttons in holiday theme and colour would be great. Do not spend a lot of money. A few items from the dollar store will be perfect. I will give more direction on this to students on Tuesday.
Reminders
November 25 - Eagle Convocation - Please have your child wear their Eagle Shirt
PAC Poinsettia Fundraiser - I will send home the notice on Monday but here is the link to our Brentwood PAC Page: https://brentwoodpac.ca/
Families on Property- Ensuring the well-being of our school community is our number one priority. We are noticing that there is some congestion occurring on all sides of the school. This is a reminder that families should drop off/pick up children at the edges of the school property. We also remind you that mask usage is a protective measure where it is not possible to maintain physical distance. This would be the case for adults at all times on our property and is in alignment with our staff's health and safety plan. Thank you for working together with us to help keep our school healthy.
Please contact out Principal, Sara Salemink, at ssalemink@saanichschools.ca if you have questions. We are all in this together.
INDOOR SHOES: As the weather turns, we ask you to send a pair of indoor shoes with your child. It is preferable to have the shoes stay in the classroom but it is also okay to have them in the backpack if they need to go back and forth between school and home.
