Look at both maps on Where it Comes From.  Look for the red markers on the maps, then find the red marker on the list of Power Plant Descriptors under the map.  How is Natural Gas mainly being used in BC today?

GEOTHERMAL ENERGY


Go to Geothermal Energy Overview. What are the two types of geothermal energy and what are their main uses? Circle if they are renewable or non-renewable?





Go to Where it Comes From.  Look at the second map called Power Stations Planned or Under Construction, but not yet in Operation.  Look for the small yellow dot on the map, then find the small yellow dot on the list of Power Plant Descriptors under the map.  How is Geothermal Energy being used in BC today?




SOLAR POWER


Go to Solar Power Facts.  What is solar power and how is it created?  Circle if solar power is renewable or non-renewable?

Read Wind Energy Facts. What is wind energy and how is it created? What are some pros and cons of wind energy?  Circle if it is renewable or non-renewable?





Read the first paragraph of Wind's Intermittency Problem.  The big challenge to wind power is intermittency (which means the wind does not always blow).  What is being done to combat this challenge?




Look at both maps on Where it Comes From.  Look for the pink markers on the maps, then find the pink marker on the list of Power Plant Descriptors under the map.  How is Wind Energy being used in BC today?




HYDROELECTRICITY


Read Hydropower Facts. What is hydroelectricity and how does it work?



Look at the maps on Where it Comes From and find the dark blue markers on the maps.  Scroll down to the dark blue marker on the list of Power Plant Descriptors.  Where does most of BC's power come from?
