The Covid-19 situation has impacted so many of our children and teens, and often for those with anxiety, these challenging times have worsened symptoms and overall mental health.
South Island Centre for Counselling and Training has developed three weekly online support groups for children and youth with anxiety, starting October 6th. The groups will run for 8 weeks and are free to join with a limited capacity of 10 participants in each group. During the 8 weeks participants will learn about the symptoms of anxiety, self-care and coping strategies, tools designed to decrease symptoms, and other useful life-skills. They will also have the opportunity to connect with others in their age group and share their experiences. The age groups are as follows: Tuesdays - ages 9-13 , Wednesdays - ages 14-18 and Thursdays - ages 9-25.
Parents of participants will receive one 60 minute free counselling session to discuss their child's needs and ways to help support them. We are also offering the Triple P online parenting course free of charge starting late October with a limit of 10 participants.
If you know any students who could benefit please refer them to register as soon as possible since space is limited and registration will be first-come-first-served. Participants can register online at www.southislandcentre.ca/trainingevents
