Hi Brentwood Eagle Families,

We hope you are all keeping well, we miss seeing all of you at school in person, and are excited to reconnect this week. We thank you for your patience as our staff shifts to a new work environment and we develop plans in different ways to provide support. All of our planning is being done with safety at the forefront and we appreciate your understanding as we navigate this new landscape. We are following directions of both the Province and the School District in regards to planning moving forward. If you have not yet done so, please subscribe to both the school district and Brentwood websites. We will share information as we are able.

As we are following recommendations made by the Provincial Health Officer for everyone's well-being, we will be accessing the school building only on an essential needs basis. At this time, please connect with your child's teacher if there is something essential to your child inside of the school, and we will connect back with you at the soonest possible time in regards to collection of these items.

In regards to student learning, our Superintendent, Dave Eberwein, shared a document outlining levels of support for Elementary, Middle, and Secondary students at this time. This document is on the district website. The expectation for Elementary teachers at this time is to provide to families opportunities to connect for a social-emotional check in between now and April 2. By mid April, teachers will be in touch in regards to learning activities that can be accessed at home. These activities will be low or no-tech offerings, as well in some cases access to online activities. Teachers will be preparing 5 hours per week of activities for students to access. That being said, Teachers are still working and will be able to connect with you as needed. Email is the best method of communication at this time-- please note that the school phone will not be monitored.

We understand that this is an unusual time and we are here for you. As mentioned, you will be receiving a contact from your child's teacher this week, and educational details for the beginning of next week. Now, as ever, we are following our "Brentwood Beliefs"- we take care of our community, each other, and ourselves. We are a team and we know that together is the best way to tackle challenges. Thank you for our support of our staff as they work to support your students in a new capacity. We look forward to connecting soon. As always, please feel free to connect with our Principal, Sara Salemink, at ssalemink@saanichschools.ca. Be well, and talk soon!
