Are you a parent with a child between 6 and 12?

WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP YOUR CHILD BECOME MORE ACTIVE?

Join a Family Physical Activity Study!

Recent research shows that most children do not meet Canada’s physical activity recommendations. Regular physical activity is essential for healthy development.

Who are we looking for? We’re looking for families with at least one child between the ages of 6 and 12 who is getting less than 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity per day, and at least one parent who will participate with their child.

What will you do if you participate? Eligible families will receive MATERIALS TO HELP THEIR CHILDREN BECOME MORE PHYSICALLY ACTIVE. Your child’s physical activity will be monitored 4 times throughout a 6 month period, and their fitness level will be tested twice.

What will you get out of this? Eligible families will receive materials to help their child become more physically active, participants will receive a cash incentive after each assessment, and you will be contributing to health promotion research!

To learn more, contact the Behavioural Medicine Lab at bml@uvic.ca or call at 250-472-5288.

Please note that this study is not connected with the school and parent and student participation is entirely voluntary.
