Hi Everyone,

There is so much happening this month for division 4! We are no longer doing special helper sharing. The special helper has many other important jobs instead, and one of them is to feed our new class pet.---Boris the Black Moor! He is in the goldfish family, and is actually over eight years old. He seems to have settled into his new home quite comfortably, and the children love to watch him swim, eat, and spit rock out of his mouth!

We have another new addition to our classroom--Radar T. Bear and the children will take turns bringing Radar home. He has his own backpack with supplies and his journal. When it is your child's turn, please encourage your child to write a journal entry about all the things she did with Radar. The next day, your child can bring Radar back to school and share what he's done with the class. Please remember to bring Radar back to school with everything in his backpack, so another child can appreciate the experience too.

For an upcoming project, we need brown knee-high nylons. Please send a pair  to school with your child. They can be used, and if if you don't have knee-highs, you can send a pair of long nylons, and we'll just cut them. We also need 20 yogurt containers (without holes), so if anyone has any spare clean containers, please let me know. Thanks!

Tomorrow, April 29 is PAC fun lunch day!

Scholastic book orders are due on April 30.

This Friday, May 1, is our class and school-wide photo day. Class photos are free for everyone, but if you would like to order a panoramic whole school photo, please return your order envelope before Friday.

Monday, May 4 is a non-instructional day. No school for students.

There will be another scholastic book fair (located in the action room) May 6-13. Please check the posters around the school for times and come check out some cool books!

Your child should have brought home a new permission form for our trip to Parklands Secondary School on May 7. The entire primary wing (grades K-3) are attending a performance of Snow White. We will be taking school buses and travelling with other classes. Unfortunately, there isn't room on the buses or the theatre to have parents join us, but you are welcome to attend an evening performance with your child if you still want to see the show.

Monday, May 11 we have an author visit in the library.

May 12 is our field trip to Swan Lake Nature House. A big "Thank You!" to the parents who volunteered to drive us there. We will leave the school at 9:00, so please make sure your child is not late for school! Our program is about social insects, so we will do some inquiring into facts about insects, think of some big questions, and hopefully get some good "I wonder"

May 13 is Popcorn Day.

May 20 is Parent Appreciation Day at Brentwood School. When you drop off your child, stop on by and pick up something yummy!

On Thursday, May 21, we have a group from Science Venture visiting our classroom to teach us about force and motion. It is always so interesting, and gets us excited about science!

Wednesday, May 27 is PAC fun lunch day.

Thursdays--library book exchange

Fridays--read around the room from 8:40-9:10. Everyone is welcome!

I hope you're all having a great week!
