Hi everyone,

April is Poetry Month! Come by and see our "Poetree" in the hallway outside our classroom. Right now, it's decorated with the poems of the day from the library, but we will be adding our own poems as well. This week, we learned about onomatopoeia, and created our own rain poems and rain stick musical instruments. I've put a cute song about onomatopoeia on our moodle page you can check out. Next week we are creating Haiku poems with out big buddy class and pixelated Earth art for Earth Week. They will be on display outside the office!

This week, we also participated in the Stream of Dreams water project. A big thank you to the parents who helped out on Friday to put all the children's beautiful fish on our fence. They look amazing!

Tuesday, April 14th is our Jump Rope for Heart day. We have been practising our jump roping skills, and it's been a lot of fun! Please return any fundraising envelopes on or before Tuesday. Remember, if you sign up online, your child receives a prize and family members can pledge towards a good cause.

Monday, April 20th is our concert. Please make sure your child is in the classroom between 6:00-6:15, as the concert begins at 6:30. If your child wants to practise the songs at home, you can find the link on our moodle page.

On May 12, we have a field trip to the Swan Lake Nature House, and your child should have brought home a consent form for you to sign. We will leave the school at 9:00 and return in time for lunch at 11:30. The name of our program is Social Insects. We will learn about the insects which work together to survive. Did you know that Swan Lake has a real beehive that we can watch through glass? We may even get to taste some of their honey! If you would like to drive on our field trip, please make sure you've completed the criminal record check, and sign the appropriate box on the form. If we don't have enough drivers, I will have to book a school bus, so please return your forms asap. Thanks!

Spelling words went home today for next week. Children should practise sorting and printing them before our test on Friday.

Cohen is the superstar of the week next week, and then it's Brodie and then Benjamin. After everyone has had a turn as the superstar, we will start something new. smile

Have a great weekend!
