Intermediate Choir

  Students in grades 3, 4 & 5 can join the Intermediate Choir practises on Tuesday and Thursday at lunch. Practises will be starting this Tuesday, Nov. 24th at 11:05 with Mrs. Chater.

Lego Club

  Mrs. Toronitz is interested in starting a Lego Club which will take place once a week at lunch during the winter months. We are in need of Lego pieces to add to our collection. If you have Lego pieces or sets that you would like to donate to the school please give us a call at 652-1996.

CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS

  The Criminal Records Review Act requires the school district to ensure that a valid criminal record check is on file for volunteers in the school district. Under the Act, anyone who works with children directly, or having unsupervised access to children in the ordinary course of the day must submit to a criminal record check. This will include Parent Drivers who will be driving children on a field trip. Criminal Record checks can be done at the Central Saanich Police station and the $50 fee will be waived if you have a letter from the school indicating that you are volunteering your time.
Here is the process:
• School prepares a letter for volunteer to take to the police station requesting the police waive the fee.
• The volunteer attends the police station in the municipality in which they reside to complete the Criminal Record Check application.
• Police conducts the CR Check and volunteer goes back to pick up form.
• The completed form is submitted to the Office of the Secretary Treasurer at the Saanich School Board Office on Keating Cross Road.
• The volunteer’s name is added to the CRC list on our school email list.
• Once the volunteer’s name is added to our list, they can volunteer anywhere in the district for one year.

Accidents Do Happen

(effective September 1, 2009)

The school district does not insure expenses for student injuries that happen on school grounds or during school activities. You are responsible for these expenses as a parent or guardian. However, the school district provides the opportunity for families to voluntarily purchase private accident insurance through the Reliable Life Insurance Company. Brochures are distributed to students in September and are available from the school office at any time during the year. The information can also be viewed on-line at:
